Learning to lead and Leading to learn....
At Griffin State School we believe that all our senior learners have the potential to be strong leaders and set an example to their younger peers in our school community. All learners in Years Five and Six are invited to embrace the challenge of earning the Griffin State School Student Leader award.
The Student Leader award celebrates our learners demonstrating consistently our core values of Humanity, Integrity and Grit.
Learners will receive a task card with a list of expectations of a Student Leader. To earn this award, learners need to have demonstrated these qualities consistently across a number of school weeks and in different school contexts. Learners need to meet with their classroom and specialist teachers regularly to discuss their progress and have their card signed off. Each set of standards under each school value needs to be demonstrated across four checkpoints for the classroom and two checkpoints with specialist teachers.
Once learners have demonstrated all the school expectations, they are asked to approach a member of the wider community who is able to make a brief comment on how they feel the learner upholds these values outside of school in the community e.g. a neighbour, family friend, sporting coach etc. Once the card is completed, each learner will be awarded their Student Leader badge at a school assembly.
The Student Leader badge can be worn on the collar of their school uniform and always with the utmost pride.
