Enrolling in Prep:

Prep enrolment packs are available from the school office in the year before your child is eligible to attend Prep. To enrol your child you will need to ensure that you have checked your eligibility through our catchment map and have proof of residency. You will also need to have a copy of your child's birth certificate for school staff to sight upon enrolment.

Due to the large numbers of learners in our school community, our interviews for Prep are held as group interviews. Once you have booked in for your interview, you will be able to come along and listen to some important information about our school, provide information to school staff to support your child's enrolment and ask any questions. Your little one will be able to engage in some fun learning opportunities with school staff while parents are at the interview.

Prepping for Prep at Griffin State School:

The start of formal schooling in Prep is an exciting time for families. For our young people (and maybe our parents) walking in to a new school on day one can be a daunting experience. To help our Prep learners start school with success, each year we offer our incoming Prep learners a number of opportunities to come along to some short activity sessions to help them get to know our staff and 'practice' coming to our school. These sessions are not compulsory – just an opportunity to come and have fun at our school! Sessions will be held each fortnight commencing at the start of Semester Two each year and finishing towards the end of the school year. When you hand in your enrolment pack to the school you will receive an email with how to sign up for these activities.

Parents will drop their child off with school staff at the activity and then head to an adjacent waiting area onsite. While your child has fun with our staff team, we will run short information sessions for parents while you wait, to support you in supporting your child to have a great start to school.

Transition Mornings:
Your child will also be able to attend a transition morning where they wil get to spend the morning in a Prep classroom. Sessions will be advertised and parents will be emailed the details of how to book in to a transition morning.

We can't wait to see all our newest school community members!
