Griffin State School was established in 2016. Our first 246 learners and their families began their journey of learning on 27th January 2016, excitedly entering our beautiful new school that was purpose built to reflect our signature pedagogy of inquiry learning.
The school is built on the Aboriginal lands of the Kabi Kabi nation and we acknowledge the Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi people as the traditional custodians of the land. We acknowledge their continuing connection to this land, these waters and this community.
The Griffin St
ate School community have a strong connection to the Pine River as the lifeblood of this area and to the Osprey which makes its' nest on our banks. Our school motto, Anchored in Excellence reflects this connection, along with our school mascot, Oscar the Osprey.
Our Values, Humanity, Integrity and Grit are extremely important to us, underpinning all that we do. A very old philosopher Aristotle, once said,
“Educating the mind without educating the heart, is no education at all."
Humanity and Integrity remind us that schools are a work of not just the mind, but also the heart. Grit reminds us every day that success is a result of commitment and determination, often with challenge.
At Griffin State School the essence of this and what we stand for has been captured in our school song “Hearts and Minds".
