Established in 2016, the Griffin State School community worked in close partnership with purpose and passion to create a school that achieves the very best possible for each child by embedding practices that are truly 'Anchored in Excellence'.

Centred at the heart of the Griffin community, a group of 18 staff, 246 learners and their families took the first steps on our journey of learning. A significant amount of work has been done by a small but dedicated group of people including staff, learners and parents. Their work has been a work of the heart and mind recognising the steadfast belief that nurturing young people with both character and competence, able to capably take their place in an ever-changing world, is our work. This belief is espoused through our school’s Values and Learning Priorities.

Values

Our Values, Humanity, Integrity and Grit are extremely important to us, underpinning all that we do. A very old philosopher Aristotle, once said,

"Educating the mind without educating the heart, is no education at all."

Humanity and Integrity remind us that schools are a work of not just the mind, but also the heart. Grit reminds us every day that success is a result of commitment and determination, often with challenge.

At Griffin State School the essence of this and what we stand for has been captured in our school song "Hearts and Minds".

Learning Priorities

Learners at Griffin will be Literate, Numerate and Curious with programs designed to develop the skills to prepare them for their futures. Curiosity and Powerful Learning provides the organisational framework for our work.

In our infancy, careful consideration has been given to ensuring highly effective, evidence-based organisational practices have been created to prepare for anticipated rapid enrolment growth. Timeless traditions have also been established that will take the Griffin community into the future.

Underlying Philosophies

At Griffin we believe in an inquiry approach to learning and aim to foster our learners’ curiosity so that they leave our school more curious about the world than when they arrived. We believe that each child can and will learn, given the right time and support and that the continued progress of each child is a shared responsibility in a genuine partnership with all members of our school community.
