Celebrate the Visual Arts

Next term, to help us celebrate the Visual Arts, we have organised an art incursion with Arthur Conlon otherwise known as “Deadly Arthur”.  For our new families, Arthur is an Aboriginal artist from the Wakka Wakka / Kullilla people of Cherbourg in Queensland. Last year we welcomed Arthur to our community making him an honorary member of Griffin State School. Arthur’s humour and amazing talent captivated the interests of our learners. His beautiful, bright artworks co-constructed with the children in the Canteen Area and the Prep Play Area, is something which will remain very special to our community for years to come.

This year we will invite Arthur to help create more wonderful artworks in our school as well as lead some class workshops. His workshop will involve an art demonstration, discussion about the cultural significance of the painting and the sharing of his inspirational story. This will then be followed by a hands on workshop where each learner will have the chance to produce a magnificent drawing on A3 paper using oil based pastels. Each workshop will run for approximately 45 minutes.
·        Dates - Arthur will be in our school on the 7th, 8th and 9th of August, 2017 – a timetable will be made available      the week before the incursions based on final numbers.
·        Cost -   $7.00
If you are happy for your child to participate in this incursion, please complete the form below and return it before Wednesday 26th July, 2017
